Apocalypse Rising - commonly known as Apoc Rising or AR1 - is the original Roblox open-world zombie survival game that defined the genre on the platform. Created by Gusmanak starting in 2008 and built across many years, it features base building, vehicle repair, loot scavenging, and PvP between survivors in a post-apocalyptic world. With 240 million lifetime visits and 1.49 million favorites, it remains one of the most visited games in Roblox history.

The core design philosophy - "the zombies aren't the only threat" - sets the tone for everything. Players spawn with nothing and must scavenge an open world to survive against both the infected and hostile players. The primary activities follow a classic survival loop:
