BOOGA BOOGA - 2020 is an open-world survival and crafting game on Roblox developed by Soybeen, the original creator of the BOOGA BOOGA franchise. One of the most historically significant games on the platform, it pioneered the floating-island resource-gathering and tribal combat genre on Roblox starting in 2017. The 2020 version incorporated major updates to the original, accumulating 503 million visits and 1.8 million favorites before the developer archived it in October 2023.

The gameplay loop is primitive and deliberate: spawn on a floating island, punch trees and rocks to collect Wood and Stone, craft basic tools and weapons at crafting stations, and build a base to hold against other players. The game progresses through material tiers, with players moving from stone tools to iron and eventually rarer materials for combat advantages. Players travel between islands by raft or bridge, expanding territory and raiding rival tribes:

Monetization is minimal and legacy-style: the Starter Boulder pass (499 R$) lets players spawn with a Boulder dealing 4x the damage of a basic Rock, while Advanced Cosmetics (499 R$) unlocks all hair, skin, and face options. The game was among the most played on Roblox at its peak, defining the survival genre for years before being archived.

Soybeen made the original BOOGA BOOGA source game freely available (uncopylocked), which enabled fan-built successors like Booga Booga Reborn to build on and eventually surpass the original in active players.
