Castaway

Castaway is an open-world sandbox survival RPG on Roblox developed by Headstack Games (SimplyRemove and Hazania), created in October 2017. Players are stranded on a tropical fantasy island and must craft tools, weapons, and armor; build and upgrade a base; recruit and manage villager NPCs; and sail shark-infested waters to reach Realm Warps for rare loot. With 3.15 million visits and an 86.4% approval rating sustained since 2017, it is a veteran Roblox RPG with a loyal returning player base.

The game blends four systems into a cohesive long-form experience: island survival, base construction, NPC workforce management, and ocean exploration. Progression flows through each of these systems feeding the others:

• 💼 Villager System - recruit, train, and manage NPC Workers who earn resources offline while you are logged out

Villagers are the key passive progression lever. Workers assigned to your island continue earning resources while you are offline, making Castaway friendly for returning players who want to log in to a stocked vault rather than starting from scratch each session. Realm Warps - accessible only by sailing past sharks - provide the highest-tier loot and are the destination for advanced players pushing past the core island loop.

Castaway is one of the older survival RPGs still actively played on Roblox, maintained since 2017 with a last update in December 2025.
