About Daycare
Daycare is a social survival game on Roblox by CleanMeanBeans where players take one of two opposing roles - Patients who must maintain their health stats and avoid becoming "bad noodles," or Scientists who run laser experiments using a system of 62 distinct effect codes. Released in December 2020 and inspired by Ro-Bio, the game has amassed over 86 million visits and draws 300-800 concurrent players with an active Fandom wiki of 412 pages tracking its deep mechanics.
The experiment and stat systems create a layered asymmetric social dynamic where Scientists control the environment and Patients must react:
- πΌ Scientist role - type 3-digit laser codes (like "300" for Aggression) into the experiment system to trigger one of 62 registered effects at up to 5 intensity levels
- π Patient role - maintain five health stats: Hunger, Cleanliness, Sanity, Energy, and Overall Happiness (the average of all four)
- βοΈ Lights Out event - when 4 or more Patients become "bad noodles" (low stats), the lights go out and aggroed Patients can attack Scientists
- π Food mutations - Scientists can infect Milk and Sandwiches with laser codes; Patients consume the effects when eating
- πΊοΈ Daytime events - random server-wide events including Birthday, Snacktime, Arts and Crafts, Paint Yourself, and Ballpit
- πΌ VIP Scientist pass - allows laser use during Lights Out, where standard Scientists lose access
Notable laser effects range from cosmetic (ColorChange, Spin, Beard) to dangerous (Explode, Shadows - which summons a lethal shadow creature) to comedic (Boba, Unicorn, TeddyBear). Codes not in the experiment log trigger random effects, adding a wildcard element.
Daycare rewards players who learn the full 62-laser experiment catalog. The combination of stat management, social dynamics, and emergent chaos from the laser system places it alongside classic Roblox social games like Ro-Bio in the social survival subgenre.
