Island Royale!

Island Royale is Roblox's original battle royale experience, launched in January 2018 by developer LordJurrd (Jared) with programming support from CleverSource (Ryan). It pioneered the Fortnite-style battle royale format on Roblox: up to 100 players parachute onto a tropical island, scavenge for weapons and materials, build cover, and fight to be the last player standing while a shrinking Storm forces everyone toward the center. With 432.4M+ visits and 1.52M+ favorites, it was the defining Roblox battle royale during the peak of Fortnite mania from 2018 to 2020.

The December 2023 Chapter 2 overhaul completely redesigned the map with towering trees, waterways, and improved lighting, and added Gun Game mode. The core survival loop combines looting, building, and combat management:

• ⚔️ Loot Chests and buildings for weapons in Common through Legendary rarity tiers
• 🏠 Harvest Wood, Stone, and Metal from destructible structures to build defensive cover
• ⚔️ Manage Shield and health consumables between fights to survive longer engagements
• 🏆 Compete in Solo, Duo, Trio, Squad, and Arena modes for mode-specific victory badges
• 🏆 Gun Game mode cycles your weapon type with each kill - added in Chapter 2
• 💰 Earn Bucks (the cosmetic currency) passively through matches to spend on weapon skins and character cosmetics

Bucks are spent on weapon skins, character cosmetics, and seasonal shop items - none affect gameplay balance. The Island Pass is the seasonal progression system with tiered cosmetic rewards.

Player counts are low compared to its 2018-2020 peak, but LordJurrd continues updating the game with new seasonal content.
