Mad City: Chapter [MALL HEIST]

Mad City: Chapter 1 - Mall Heist is a standalone open-world action experience developed by verified studio Schwifty Studios that preserves the original Mad City formula with a major new criminal target: the Mad City Mall. Released in September 2024 as a separate experience distinct from the current live version, it lets players relive the classic three-faction conflict while gaining access to content not available in the main game. Over 52 million visits confirms the audience for legacy Mad City content.

Players pick a faction at session start and pursue opposing objectives across a shared city map with up to 28 players:

Most gamepasses from the original Mad City were made available for free in Chapter 1 - a community-friendly decision that removes pay-to-win concerns and gives all players equal access to vehicles and equipment from the start.

Chapter 1 is best understood as the legacy build of Mad City for players who preferred the pre-Chapter 2 experience. Game data does not transfer between Chapter 1 and Mad City: Chapter 2, so progression here is entirely separate.
