About Murder Time
Murder Time is a PvP survival and cosmetics game by Alpha Engine 2 that inverts the standard murder mystery structure by rotating the Murderer role to every player every 20 seconds, guaranteeing each participant time as the killer rather than relying on random assignment. With 25.5M+ visits and a 94.5% upvote ratio since its December 2023 launch across 20-player servers, it has built a distinct niche for players who want guaranteed knife combat action over passive hiding and deduction.
The rotating killer mechanic creates a constant tension cycle across three available modes:
- ⚔️ Classic Mode - the Murderer role passes to a new player every 20 seconds; during non-Murderer turns, players run, hide, and survive until the role rotates away
- ⚔️ Turf Wars - a competitive team mode where players place blocks to defend a base and expand territory toward the opponent's side
- 💰 Trade Mode - a dedicated server mode for player-to-player cosmetic item exchange, treated as a first-class feature by the developer
Crates are the central progression system, containing random weapon cosmetics at varying rarity tiers - the item rarity determines base trade value and drives the trading economy. Like Knives, Emote Crates, and Titles (cosmetic text tags above the player's name) are all obtainable through the community milestone reward system. Two dedicated AFK sub-places allow currency accumulation without active play, and a Trading Hub is its own separate sub-place.
Free private servers position Murder Time as a social activity for friend groups without Robux costs. The game is actively maintained with updates through early 2026, with community milestone thresholds unlocking new drops as the like count grows. It targets a different audience than Murder Mystery 2 by prioritizing action over deduction, similar in energy to Murderers VS Sheriffs but with the rotating-killer twist at its core.
