About RECOIL
RECOIL is a first-person shooter on Roblox built in the mold of Call of Duty, developed by Bad Skeleton and launched in February 2020. It accumulated over 83 million visits and 819K favorites before development shifted to the successor project Rolling Thunder - making it one of the highest-favorited FPS games in Roblox history. The last major update was October 2023.
Three modes fill out the competitive suite: Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, and Occupation - a zone control mode where holding capture points scores team points. Up to 18 players share each server, and the Loadout system lets players choose weapons and equipment before each match. The 17 available weapon passes span a historically-themed WWII arsenal, and every weapon has distinct recoil patterns and damage profiles:
- ⚔️ Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, and Occupation mode across 18-player servers
- ⚔️ Build a Loadout from 17 pass weapons - PPSh-41, MP40, MG42, Kar98k, and more WWII firearms
- 🏆 Killstreak system triggering tiered rewards at Streak 1, 2, and 3 for consecutive kills
- 💎 Camo weapon skins with creator-specific variants like the JDRAGO Camo and OUTCASTTTV Camo
- 🏆 Earn XP per kill and per match to level up rank and unlock new loadout options
XP is the primary progression currency. The Camo system offers cosmetic weapon skins, and several Camo variants are code-exclusive - not obtainable through normal play - making them highly sought by completionists.
RECOIL entered legacy maintenance mode in October 2023 and Bad Skeleton has since focused on Rolling Thunder. Despite this, the game remains playable with a full competitive experience intact. Players looking for an actively developed alternative from the same studio can try Rolling Thunder directly.
