Retro Tower Defense is a nostalgia-driven strategy game on Roblox by Plaything Games, launched in May 2025 and surpassing 91 million visits in under a year. Instead of anime characters or generic fantasy units, players defend recreations of iconic classic Roblox maps - Crossroads, Happy Home, Sword Fight on the Heights, and Doomspire - using summoned versions of legendary Roblox avatars against waves of old-school "noob" enemies.

Towers are obtained through a gacha summoning system using Tix, the primary currency. Single pulls cost 100 Tix and 10-pulls cost 1,000 Tix. Drop rates span five tiers:

⚔️ Starter (51%) and Rare (36%) - reliable early-game and mid-game units
💎 Epic (10%) and Legendary (2%) - strong performers worth building around
🏆 Heroic (0.31%) - the rarest tier, including 4x4x4x4, Dusekkar, and Doombringer

Farm towers like Tycoon generate passive Tix income each round, while Support towers like Helper Bot provide buffs. The community-recommended loadout is one DPS, one AoE, one boss killer, one Support, and one Farm tower.
