Where the original takes place inside a cozy house, Dark moves the action to a restaurant at night - the same concept of searching for hidden food characters, but with a nocturnal atmosphere and a more intimate setting. It reached 63 million visits in just over a year, riding the massive audience built by the original.

The core gameplay mirrors the original: players search the restaurant environment for hidden anthropomorphic food characters using the same active ragdoll physics that made the first game a standout. The night setting introduces darker lighting and a distinct visual mood compared to the bright house of the original:
