About SHRED
SHRED is Roblox's original snowboarding game, created in July 2011 by MasterOfTheElements under the MOTE Games group. Players ride ski lifts to mountain peaks and race down slopes performing trick combinations to earn Coins and XP, with multiple mountains to unlock and three competitive modes across 18-player servers. One of the oldest sports games still playable on the platform, SHRED accumulated over 36.8 million visits and 344K favorites before the developer launched SHRED 2 as the modern successor. The game is now in legacy mode with no new updates since August 2024, but all existing content remains playable.
The core loop is classic: take the Ski Lift to the top of a mountain, choose a slope, and board down performing aerial tricks off jumps, rails, and lips. Trick variety and consistency determine Coins and XP earned per run. Coins unlock access to new Mountains - each with different difficulty tiers and visual themes - and fund cosmetics including boards, goggles, hats, and clothing:
- 🚗 Ski Lift - transport to mountain peaks that initiates each run
- 🏆 Race Mode - timed descent against other players down the mountain
- ⚔️ Trick Contest - score-based performance judged on trick variety and execution
- ⚔️ Crash Competition - most spectacular or stylish crash wins the round
A standout feature lets players design and upload custom snowboard skins using a published tutorial on the Roblox DevForum - a rare degree of personalization for a 2011 game. With 18-player server capacity, Race mode fills out well for competitive descents.
SHRED's legacy status means the developer's focus has shifted entirely to SHRED 2. Players looking for active updates and new content should check out the successor, while SHRED remains worth a visit for its codes and foundational snowboarding loop.
