BIRD

BIRD is a community-driven sandbox and exploration game on Roblox by the Roblox BIRD Community group where players take the role of a Chromobird - a fictional bird species - on a planet called Paxtyne. Unlike most Roblox games, BIRD has no levels, no currencies, no win states, and no structured objectives. Players explore a large open map, carry objects with their beaks, duel other birds in the Sword Arena, and extend gameplay through the MODLS system - community-created scripts that anyone can insert into a server. It won the 7th Annual Bloxy Award for Quirkiest Game of the Year.

The experience rewards exploration and creativity rather than progression. Players spawn as a Chromobird with an unusually tall physics rig and a flexible neck designed for grabbing objects. Sessions are shaped entirely by what players decide to do:

• 🗺️ Exploration - 8 distinct locations on Paxtyne, each with unique objects and hidden secrets
• ⚔️ Combat - duel other birds in the Sword Arena or with beak attacks across the map
• 🎭 MODLS - community-created model scripts inserted by players to add admin commands, audio, effects, and custom gameplay extensions; examples include BIRD+ and BirdAdmin
• 🗺️ Physics sandbox - the Kitchen Area has a Microwave and Blender for absurdist interactions, and a Dune Buggy can be driven around the map
• 🎭 Social roleplay - singing via the Birthday Cake, lore theorizing, and collaborative group play

The Quack mechanic activates certain objects and changes pitch based on gases - inhaling Helium raises the pitch, SF6 lowers it. The Freecam mode enables build screenshots. Servers hold up to 50 players. The game has been maintained since August 2019 with regular seasonal events including Squawkmas, Squawk-o-Ween, Steamuary Surprise, and Eggfest.

BIRD has an unusually robust community with a 1,257-page Fandom wiki, an official Discord at discord.gg/R4unqWPNC7, and an official website at bird.games. A companion community project called BIRD Community Build (BCB) runs as a separate Roblox place.
