About Buddy Buddy
Buddy Buddy is a two-player cooperative platformer on Roblox built specifically for pairs of players by Do Big's Buddy Buddy group, released in April 2024. Players navigate challenging obstacle courses through a series of themed worlds, requiring teamwork, coordination, and memory to progress. The game warns repeatedly that it was made for exactly two players - solo attempts will struggle. With 143 million visits and 302K favorites since launch, it has become one of the most popular two-player obby titles on the platform.
The experience is structured around a series of worlds, each escalating in difficulty. Gerald, an NPC found in each world, serves as the checkpoint and save system - find him to lock in your progress so a slip-up does not send both players back to the beginning. Signs scattered through levels provide gameplay hints, and reading them is explicitly encouraged. The game rewards the following skills and systems:
- 🗺️ Nine Worlds Plus Chapter 2 - each world is a distinct Roblox place; progress through World 2 to World 9 and into Chapter 2 with escalating challenge
- 🎭 Two-Player Requirement - obstacles demand synchronized movement and communication; one player failing means both restart from the last checkpoint
- 🏠 Gerald Checkpoints - the NPC save system in each world preserves progress between sessions so extended runs carry over
- 🗺️ Voice Chat World - a separate voice-enabled version of the game for players who prefer live verbal coordination
- 🚗 Grapple Hook - optional gamepass traversal tool for reaching ledges and moving faster through sections
- ⏳ Meter Badges - progress tracked in meter milestones from 100m to 1000m and continuing into Chapter 2, giving clear checkpoints for how far you have come
Progression is measured by how far both players get together, with badge milestones at every 100 meters of distance covered. Optional gamepasses like Extra Checkpoints and Balloon ease traversal for players who want quality-of-life assistance without sacrificing the co-op challenge.
Buddy Buddy is a pure cooperative experience - there is no PvP, no currency grind, and no code system. Its appeal comes entirely from the social challenge of completing an obstacle course with a partner.
