About Lori's Nightmare
Lori's Nightmare is an asymmetric horror escape game on Roblox created by acorn dreams in January 2025. Set in Summer 1996 during a sleepover where old VHS tapes unleash something terrible, one player becomes a corrupted monster called the Nightmare while the rest play as Children who must sneak through the dark and restore TVs to escape. With 45 million visits and an 87.8% approval rating in its first year, it is one of the fastest-growing horror games on the platform.
The analog horror and VHS aesthetic - static, corrupted imagery, 1990s nostalgia, and a supernatural backstory rooted in a forgotten child from a mysterious institution - creates an atmosphere unlike standard Roblox horror games. The 7-player server cap keeps sessions tense and intimate. The two-role structure creates entirely different play experiences each round:
- 🎭 Play as a Child to sneak through dark environments, avoid the Nightmare, and restore TVs to win
- ⚔️ Play as the Nightmare to hunt Children in a corrupted, enlarged form and stop them from completing objectives
- 🗺️ Navigate the shifting nightmare environment where every corner may hide danger
- 🎭 Use the Pincat character's Invisibility Power (via Starter Bundle) to slip past the Nightmare undetected
Rounds are decided by a race between objectives and hunting. Children must restore all TVs before too many are caught, while the Nightmare must eliminate enough Children before the TVs are fixed. A red screen tint warns Children when the Nightmare is nearby, creating constant tension even before direct confrontation.
Lori's Nightmare is currently in alpha with story content actively being developed. For fans of asymmetric horror like Flee the Facility, it offers a more atmospheric, lore-driven alternative with a distinctive VHS horror visual identity. The game has no code system - monetization is through gamepasses only.
