About weird strict dad
weird strict dad is a multiplayer horror-survival game on Roblox by BlueLoop Studios where up to 20 players must survive a night in a house with a possessed father. Players manage hunger, thirst, and sanity while avoiding an increasingly dangerous Dad NPC, keeping the house generator running, and using sleep as the primary survival mechanism. With over 507 million visits since its September 2023 launch, it is one of Roblox's breakout horror experiences - built on domestic horror rather than supernatural monsters.
The survival scenario runs from dusk until 6am in-game. Food and water scattered around the house must be found and consumed to avoid starvation and dehydration. The generator must stay powered - when it fails, critical house systems go dark and the pressure intensifies. Sleeping in beds is the central mechanic: it can provide protection, trigger time advancement, or create vulnerability depending on timing and the Dad's position. The Dad starts sluggish and predictable at dusk and becomes fast and aggressive by 4-5am.
The sanity system adds psychological horror on top of the resource pressure. Proximity to the Dad and dark environments degrade the sanity meter, causing visual and audio distortions that make navigation harder and the player more exposed. Light sources and early evasion are the keys to keeping sanity stable through the night.
With 20 players sharing a server, the chaos compounds - competition for limited food and water is real, and some players deliberately grief by making noise or leading the Dad toward others. BlueLoop Studios patches the game every Sunday, one of the most consistent weekly update schedules on Roblox. VR headset support is also available in beta, making weird strict dad one of the few Roblox horror experiences playable in immersive VR. Cosmetics and consumable items are purchased with Coins earned through survival.
