About Dread
Dread is a fast-paced zombie shooter developed by solo creator BakonBot on Roblox, launched around 2019-2020 and accumulating 19.1M+ visits with 134.5K+ favorites. Players are randomly assigned each round to the Survivor team or the Zombie team, then fight across train-themed maps using weapons, armor, and utility items. Both sides are player-controlled - not wave defense - giving the game a distinct team-versus-team dynamic. The Progression Update expanded the mission system with rerollable objectives and new skin collections.
The dual-team structure drives every round:
- ⚔️ Survivor team - outlast the zombie team using weapons, body armor, and utilities until time expires or all zombies are eliminated
- ⚔️ Zombie team - infect or eliminate every survivor to win the round
- 💰 Cash ($) - the sole currency earned from kills, survival time, and mission completions; spent on weapons and upgrades
- 💼 Mission system - active objectives granting bonus Cash for specific tasks; missions can be rerolled to match your playstyle
- ⚔️ Nightmare Mode - harder variant with fixed HP and increased zombie counts
- 💎 Hidden Codes - codes embedded inside maps discovered through exploration, typically lasting longer than update codes
Twelve badges reveal the game's depth: the Survivalist badge (544K awards) marks routine players, while rare badges like The Titanium Elite (106 awards), Delivery Guy (26 awards), and Living Nightmare (13 awards) define the true endgame. Killing BakonBot himself in-game earns the Killed the Creator badge (913 awards).
Dread was most active from 2019 through 2023, with 51 total codes released across seasonal, milestone, and event-based drops. Development has slowed since 2023, but the game remains playable and its badge community - particularly hunters chasing the 13-earner Living Nightmare badge - keeps it alive.
