The Floor Is LAVA!

The Floor Is LAVA! is a round-based lava survival game on Roblox created by solo developer TheLegendOfPyro, running continuously since May 2017 with over 3.1 billion total visits and 5 million favorites. Each round teleports players to a randomly selected map where rising orange lava forces them to climb structures, platforms, and obstacles before it reaches them. It sits alongside Flood Escape 2 in the disaster-survival genre but stands apart through its iconic premise and nearly nine years of active updates.

Rounds follow a tight loop - players spawn in a shared lobby, get teleported to a random map, have roughly 15 seconds to prepare, then the lava starts rising over about 40 seconds. Touching the lava deals damage and eventually kills. Survivors earn Points at round end while eliminated players spectate from a lobby balcony until the next round starts after a 20-second intermission. The map library spans dozens of environments with wildly different layouts, from stacked interior floors to outdoor tower-and-bridge constructions, so players need to adapt their climbing route on the fly every round.

Points earned from surviving are spent across three lobby shops:
